Class Coins have the same purpose, using one allows you to pick any locked class and unlock it. This includes even the most recently released class. Using the coin to unlock a class causes it to disappear. When starting the game, one is given to you for free, however after Patch - 6/9/15, new players will no longer start with a non-tradable class coin.
