The Vanguardian is a Physical-based class that wields fists, a weapon type that is currently exclusive to him and the Bard. This class is considered to be a hero joining the Resistors in fighting the Amperium in the Luminopolis variant of the Neon City biome. Their combat style is similar to a particular modern fighting gaming character where the character will be able to do melee attacks as well as shoot energy-based projectiles at enemies along with some abilities that enhance its basic attacks. Its abilities interchange where it has all melee based abilities and can swap to ranged abilities using its ultimate (this however does have a cooldown). This is an extremely expensive class to craft from scratch, costing a total of 24350 Plasmium, 6050 Robotic Salvage, 10 Chaos Core, 475 Blank Scroll, 2000 Cinnabar, 4600 Radiant Shard, 20 Shadow Shard, 35 Flux (assuming you didn't buy anything with Flux), 2 Formicite, and 60 Sentience Shard.

Vanguardian has 3 Hidden Effects: Champions! Congregate!: Fired Up and Force Flash now apply to up to 2 nearby allies when used. Combo: Energy Blast now applies the same damage increase that Eye Lasers applies. Heros Stand: Laser Leap and Heros Charge grants a buff that heals while dealing damage for a short time. | ||
- Each Crystal/Signatory Ring comes with 2 available Hidden Effects.
- Crystal Rings can be placed in the Ring Polisher to empower one Hidden Effect for 9 days (plus the remainder of the current day) by spending a Vanguardian Primal Loop. Patrons receive an additional 4 days for a total of 13 days (plus the remainder of the current day) of Hidden Effect.
- Each day of Polish expires at 11 AM UTC, the normal reset time.
- When the Polish runs out, another Vanguardian Primal Loop must be spent to choose another Hidden Effect or to re-activate the previous Hidden Effect.
Subclass
Allies
There are several Allies that can be used to benefit the Vanguardian, some of which can help survivability and/or increase overall damage.
- Earnie: The most effective ally for this class, it gives + 400 Light + 25% Physical Damage + Shield when nearby enemies die.
- Animated Jug: It gives + 300 Light + 20% Physical Damage + 15% Health and Speed bonus when an enemy dies.
- Rapt Berserker: It will significantly boost your damage output and your health.
Flasks & Emblems
There are a few really interesting emblem combinations you can use, but it is recommend to use the Death-Defying Vial as your flask since it won't let you die.
Martial Emblem - The most effective emblem for the class, It will superbly boost your attacks when combined with Lunarform (Lunar Lancer Subclass). It boosts your Physical Damage stat by 250%.
Shadow Shrike Emblem - Nothing much, but since you deal heavy amounts of damage, you will make this emblem stronger. Summons a temporary damage dealing ally.
Master Cheep Emblem - Just the same as Shadow Shrike, but obtainable through mastery.
Zealous Emblem - You'll be using a lot of energy while farming, so this emblem will come in very handy.
Chronomantic Emblem - Regardless of what mode you're in, you'll want to use your 1 ability as much as possible. Lowering that cooldown will make you're farming a bit faster.

Gameplay Strategy
- Your gear should have movement speed and attack speed stats on it to bring out the full farming potential of the Vanguardian.
- For Delves or Shadow Towers, your ranged mode will work best. You should use your 1 ability to get an attack speed boost so you can play like most delvers (Dracolyte, Gunslinger, Ice Sage, etc.) and maximize your damage from a distance.
- Ranged Enemies will give you a hard time (assuming you're in melee mode), and any bosses that can summon Spikes or Lava (eg. Spike Walker, Death Knight, Bone Blade, etc.) won't give you a lot of freedom to move. Avoid these enemies if you can.
- Pyrodisc is a MUST for any farming class (eg. Neon Ninja, Dino Tamer, Vanguardian, etc.), and Vampirian Vanquisher's speed boost and leeching will help you out a TON when farming.
- Your ring should have Energy Regen, because Vanguard's Eyebeam consumes 2/3 of its energy, which you'll be relying on for damage.
- If you're playing on a team, include ranged classes on your team such as Gunslinger and Ice Sage. Have Revenants for tanks and Knights for heals/damage reduction. If you want a team of farmers, you'll want classes like Neon Ninja, Dino Tamer, and/or Bard.
- For farming, use your melee mode. The speed boost is very helpful and you do more damage in melee mode rather than using ranged mode.
- Don't set out to get the Vanguardian early. Buying the items off the market will cost over 1 million Flux, so you're going to already need a good farming strategy. Vanguardian should be one of (if not, the) last classes you obtain.
